State Minister for Reconciliation says installation of barbed wires is pre-election provocation

Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, says installation of barbed wires near the village of Balta by the Tskhinvali occupation regime is pre-election provocation. The State Minister asserts that the Government of Georgia is doing everything to stop this illegal process.

“This is a continuation of the deplorable process that has been implementing in such an ugly manner since 2008 - fencing the occupation line with different barricades, which is directly directed against people. Of course, there is the interest of creation more tensions in the pre-election period and to carry out yet another provocation in order to put more pressure on the population.

Naturally, Russia will fail to reach the desired result through such provocations. We have already given a proper response to this specific fact and the efforts aim to stop the building of these ugly barbed wire fences and barricades and destroy all the ugly barricades that separate the people and are erected in the middle of Georgia, "said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

According to the State Minister, installation of the barbed wire fences is another demonstration that humans, including Georgians, Abkhazians and Ossetians, human rights and interests are insignificant for the occupation regime.

The EU Monitoring Mission has been informed about installation of barbed wire fences near the village of Atotsi in Kareli district and the “hot line” is already activated.
