The employees of Patrol Police Department detained four persons for assaulting Tako Charkviani, member of the opposition coalition, and her accompanying person at the Kutaisi Davit Aghmashenebeli International Airport. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, one person was detained under the Criminal Code of Georgia and 3 others – were charged with minor hooliganism.

According to the Interior Ministry, Tako Charkviani and her spouse were attacked allegedly due to their political opinions. One of the detainees physically assaulted Charkviani’s spouse, while the three other verbally insulated him.

Police identified and detained all the four assaulters.

An investigation is underway under Article 126 of Criminal Code of Georgia, involving violence and Article 166 of Administrative Offences.
