The trail of Davit Kirkitadze, one of the leaders of the opposition “United National Movement” party, has been postponed.

Davit Kirkitadze and a group of opposition lawmakers, who offered their personal guarantee for Kirkitadze’s release, left the court room in protests after the judge announced his decision to remain Davit Kirkitadze in custody.

The next trial will be held at 3:00pm on March 19.

The opposition supporters and leaders gathered outside the building of Gurjaani District Court.

Kirkitadze is accused of assaulting a police officer during the Velistsikhe incident on December 16, when several hundred opposition activists confronted police officers blocking their way to the inauguration venue in Telavi.
