Miners, employer failed to negotiate

The meeting between the miners and the representatives of "Georgian Manganese" in Chiatura ended without any result. The parties failed to reach an agreement and the miners left the meeting in protest and demanded the company to leave Chiatura.

The miners say their protest and hunger strike will continue until their demands are fully met.

Miners Chiatura town have been on a strike for the past ten days demanding 50% salary increase and better working conditions from their employer – the “Georgian Manganese”. One of the striking miners has been transferred to hospital today, however, he returned to the tent and continued hunger strike.
