De facto parliament of Tskhinvali asks assistance from Russia

The de facto parliament of Tskhinvali has appealed to the Russian Federation Council and the State Duma to work out a joint position to de-escalate tensions on the administrative boundary line, Sputnik agency reports.

"The South Ossetian Parliament asks the Russian Federation Council and the State Duma to hold inter-parliamentary consultations to develop a unified policy to promote de-escalation, restore territorial integrity and ensure the security of South Ossetian citizens," reads the statement.

In addition, the so-called lawmakers point out that the EU, which is represented by the observer mission in the negotiation process, refuses to fulfill its commitments to provide guarantees relating to the non-use of force.
