My, as the Prime Minister’s, first visit to Azerbaijan is not accidental, as we are sure that this visit will once again prove both to our friends and enemies that there are no problems between Azerbaijan and Georgia, which can not be resolved through brotherly, friendly relationship, Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia said at the face-to-face meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

As InterPressNews was informed by the PM’s press office, at the meeting between Giorgi Gakharia and Ilham Aliyev, the sides underlined the main directions of the two countries' strategic partnership, the key issues of the bilateral cooperation agenda, and the regional projects, which are being jointly implemented by Georgia and Azerbaijan.

The Prime Minister thanked the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the warm welcome.

“I remember our meetings very well, very frank, open conversations, which was a great experience for me. Azerbaijan and Georgia are close friends and allies. Our partnership is more than of the regional importance, it has become an international issue, especially in the economic dimension, in the areas of energy, transport and trade. Georgia and Azerbaijan strongly and firmly support each other within the international formats. I would like to thank you for supporting Georgia's territorial integrity. Very warm and intimate relations between our citizens at the human level, including centuries of historical and cultural relations, are to be especially emphasized. I am convinced today that our visit, talks and business discussions will be highly fruitful and will ones again prove to everyone, including our friends and enemies, that Georgia and Azerbaijan will always find the correct words and ways to resolve the problems, "the Prime Minister said.

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan congratulated Giorgi Gakharia on his appointment to the post of the Head of Government of Georgia and thanked him for paying his first foreign visit to Azerbaijan.

“I am glad that you, as the Prime Minister, are paying your first foreign visit to Azerbaijan. This proves that Georgia and Azerbaijan are close friends and allies. Georgia is our closest friend, neighbor and partner. Since independence, our relations have been developing and covers many areas. We support each other's territorial integrity and work successfully within international organizations. I am pleased that our economic relations are developing successfully and Azerbaijan is one of the first major investors for Georgia. The cooperation between our countries, especially in the fields of oil, gas and transport, has gone further regional boundaries and became of international importance. Inter-ethnic relations are of particular importance. The Azerbaijanis living in Georgia and the Georgians living in Azerbaijan play a huge role in the development of these relations, "Aliyev said.
