Amiran Gamkrelidze: The masks produced in Georgia can be washed, ironed and used multiple times

Amiran Gamkrelidze, Director of the National Center for Disease Control, disagrees with the dissatisfaction of some members of the society with the masks produced in Georgia and says that the products made in the country are of multiple use.

As Gamkrelidze told InterPressNews, citizens can wash and iron the masks.

"Citizens can use these types of mask multiple times, they can wash and iron it. And if we use it for medical purposes, it is disposable and we have to throw it away after the use,” Gamkrelidze said.

The sale of locally produced masks began in pharmacies on April 8. As InterPressNews was informed by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, 400,000 masks would be sold at the initial stage.

After the capital, the masks will be supplied to eastern Georgia and the municipalities with the strictest state of emergency. The mask costs 50 tetris.
