The statements made by the Georgian authorities against Ukraine will harm Georgian-Ukrainian relations, Davit Bakradze says

Davit Bakradze, leader of European Georgia, says that the statements made by the Georgian authorities against Ukraine harm the interests of Georgia. According to Bakradze, Georgia and Ukraine are fighting against a common enemy and this relationship cannot be put into doubt because of personal, party or political interests.

Davit Bakradze called on the government and the opposition not to make the internal political issues of Ukraine a topic of controversy in Georgia.

"These statements by the government directly harm the interests of the Georgian state. Trade relations with Ukraine and Ukrainian tourism will be one of the decisive factors in bringing the Georgian economy out of the crisis.

Ukraine is a locomotive in the process of Georgia's NATO and the European Union membership. We are both fighting against a common enemy. It is inadmissible to put all this into doubt because of party, personal or political interests, especially in the current situation where there is a high probability that Mikheil Saakashvili will not be approved due to lack of votes in the Ukrainian Rada, but these statements will damage the Georgian -Ukrainian relations.

Therefore, I would like to call on the authorities to strictly stop making statements that harm Georgia's state interests, and I urge the government and the opposition not to use the domestic political issues of Ukraine as a topic of Georgian controversy because it harms Georgia's state interests, ”Davit Bakradze said.

Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Archil Talakvadze has sent a letter to Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov denouncing the possible appointment of the former President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili to the post of Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine. Talakvadze wrote that Saakashvili’s appointment may cast a shadow over the political cooperation between the two governments and their joint efforts.
