Parliament passes Electoral Code changes in second reading

The changes in the Electoral Code has been supported by 94 votes in second reading at the extraordinary session. The project has been approved on several conditions which will be included in the third reading.

As the speaker of the draft law, MP Irakli Kobakhidze stated, one condition is about introducing the 25-meters radius around the polling stations where the exit polls are going to take place. With regards to the second condition, it concerns to equal approach towards qualified and non-qualified persons.

It should be noted that the regulation which used to give the wide discretion to the State Audit to regulate and control the financial activities of the media will be removed from the Code. Accordingly, the project doesn't include the sanction for it either.

For the record, the Electoral Code changes have been approved in first reading yesterday.
