According to Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, today the Government and the National Bank of Georgia have enough resources to start Georgia's economic recovery quickly, which will have a rapid impact on the exchange rate of the national currency.
As the Prime Minister told reporters, the exchange rate of the national currency depends not only on economic but on social factors as well.
"Everyone and, first of all, I understand very well that the exchange rate of the national currency is not just an economic factor. It is also a social factor in our country. We understand this very well. Despite the global crisis, Georgia has more or less normal parameters of macroeconomics. Everyone should understand that a lot depends on emotions and expectations. We are in a global pandemic, we have an increase in the number of infected people and we are waiting for the elections, therefore, we should all take this into account.
I would like to emphasize one thing. Do not forget that in the summer, when we had the first wave of infection, there was a sharp depreciation of our national currency, but then it returned to the normal rate. I want to assure you that today the Government of Georgia and the National Bank of Georgia have more than enough resources to start our economic recovery quickly, which will have a rapid impact on the exchange rate of the national currency,” said Gakharia.
