Georgia needs a parliament that is fully equipped to take on many important challenges that the country is facing in the short term, - EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell told reporters.

“Last Friday we had a full range of meetings with the opposition, which I found useful and fruitful in terms of advancing the ideas on where we can find a way forward for the sake of Georgia, for the sake of having a parliament here in Georgia that is fully equipped to take on many important challenges that the country is facing in the short term and also to advance its European path towards stronger EU-Georgia relations”, said the Ambassador.

When asked if he expected the opposition to enter the Parliament, the Ambassador replied by saying:

“It is essential that we in the end come to a situation where it is possible for Georgia to have a parliament that is fully equipped to take on the responsibilities that every Georgia citizen can expect from it. So that should be the aim and that's what we need to be looking for, which will require leadership and responsibility to be taken by all sides”.

Michał Kobosko - we hope that your government eventually would either choose the European way, the democratic way or would resign seeing the number, the size and scale of the citizens' protests
