"I have not heard of this type of amnesty, where it depends on the will of the accused whether the crime is decriminalized or not - no one should be left in prison, this is the spirit of the agreement," Girchi leader Iago Khvichia told reporters.

He said he would listen to the arguments of both the government and the opposition and support an amnesty bill that is closest to the spirit of the agreement.

"You know that the agreement is sacred to us and we want to fulfill its content exactly. In any case, I support the release of Nika Melia, because it is the spirit of the Charles Michel document. I will support an amnesty bill that is closest to the spirit of the agreement. Both bills have some problematic parts that I do not like, however, my goal is for the government and the opposition to agree on the bill and for it to have multi-party support. I am going to talk to the government and the opposition throughout this period and convince them that consensus is necessary. Accordingly, I will support the consensus option. I think this bill will be completely changed before the final adoption," Khvichia said.
