Ministry of Education explains why athletes who win gold medals at tournaments will be admitted to universities without exams

The Ministry of Education and Science is making an explanation for the non-examination enrollment of Olympic and Paralympic Games champions and prize-winners in the World and European Championships, including the winners among people with disabilities, at the University of Sports.

This decision will also apply to the winners and medalists of Tokyo 2020.

"Under the leadership of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, the government has decided that the Olympic and Paralympic Games champions and prize winners, as well as the winners of the World and European Championships, including winners among people with disabilities - gold medalists, If desired, will be able to enroll in the Georgian State Teaching University of Physical Education and Sports without passing the Unified National Examinations.

It should be emphasized that for both the athlete and the fans, winning the world and European championships, taking the country's name to the international arena and protecting its dignity are of great importance. Achieving the goal requires the greatest physical effort from each athlete, many hours of exhaustive training and full concentration. Their selfless work for the name of the country is a source of great joy and appreciation for the fans.

Accordingly, the government has decided that athletes, including at the level of State Teaching University of Physical Education and Sports, should be promoted in the field of education. The Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkeli addressed the government in this regard.
