Salome Samadashvili: In Brussels, behind closed doors, they are just laughing at the Georgian Dream's statement that they will apply for EU membership in 2024

The Georgian government has, in fact, declared war against the European Union in our country - in Brussels, behind closed doors, they are just laughing at the Georgian Dream's statement that they will apply for EU membership in 2024, Salome Samadashvili, Lelo's political secretary, said on PalitraNews TV.

Salome Samadashvili spoke about the visit of Lelo leaders to Brussels. As the opposition politician says, the West is disappointed with Georgia, because today our country is at a very low level in terms of the rule of law and democracy.

As Salome Samadashvili noted, in terms of relations with the EU, the Georgian Dream's approach and policy pose a real threat that Georgia will no longer be able to receive financial assistance from the EU in the future.

"I have had relations with all relevant institutions in Brussels since 2005 and I do not remember such frustration with Georgia, because today Georgia is at the lowest level in terms of the rule of law and democracy. This is the assessment of the West, which was reflected in the fact that, for example, assistance to our country has been suspended, macro-financial assistance has not been allocated. Even the future assistance from the EU is threatened, as this assistance is subject to a number of conditions.

The Georgian government, including since the day it left the Michel agreement, has, in fact, declared an open war against the European Union in our country. They have a selective attack tactic - they attack the West when they critically assess the ongoing political situation in the country. Historically, our country has not had such an anti-Western government, and therefore the assessments from the EU are as adequate as they should be”, said Salome Samadashvili.
