Andrii Kasianov: Up to 20,000 Ukrainian citizens, including 5,500 minors, have entered Georgia since the beginning of the war in Ukraine

According to Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine, Andrii Kasianov, up to 20,000 Ukrainian citizens have entered Georgia since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, of which 5,500 are minors.

As he stated at the briefing, he expects that there will be no problems with the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees in Georgia.

"There are almost 20 thousand citizens of Ukraine on the territory of Georgia, of which about 5500 are minors. In coordination with the Government of Georgia, as well as in cooperation with the UN High Commissioner, we are taking all necessary measures to meet their basic needs. Some of the citizens of Ukraine are already employed in various fields in Georgia. As you know, Irakli Gharibashvili participated in the Warsaw conference. We are grateful to Irakli Gharibashvili, who said that Georgia will continue to support and assist Ukrainian refugees, for which the Georgian Government will allocate $ 7 million. We expect that the relevant decisions will be made by the Government in the coming days and there will be no problems with the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees in Georgia. We are expecting this from June 1, 2022.

We are grateful to the Government of Georgia, in particular the Minister of Education and Science, for supporting the opening of the Ukrainian sector," Kasianov said.
