Irakli Kobakhidze: Unfortunately, the Tbilisi office of the Soros Foundation has become a part of the war party

“Unfortunately, the Tbilisi office of the Soros Foundation, under its current leadership, has become a part of the war party. Another confirmation of this was the opinion expressed by one of the employees. This is an action similar to Sergo Orjonikidze,” Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream, said in a conversation with journalists, responding to the statement of Vano Chkhikvadze, Head of EU programs at the Soros Foundation, that Georgia should be granted potential candidate status and not candidate status.

According to him, Vano Chkhikvadze's action is a continuation of the actions of the war party, the radical opposition. They are doing everything to prevent Georgia from receiving the candidate status.

"When you do such a thing against your country at such a critical time, it is a continuation of exactly what we are talking about. They are campaigning against the candidate status. Vano Chkhikvadze's action is a continuation of the actions of this war party, the radical opposition. They are doing everything to prevent Georgia from receiving the candidate status. We all know very well what is behind this. This is an attempt for disorder. We hope that such a thing will not happen for one simple reason - there is no reason for it. In all respects, Georgia deserves candidate status more than Ukraine and Moldova. There are very simple criteria, it is the rule of law and democracy, fulfillment of the free trade agreement, economic cooperation, fulfillment of the obligations under the Association Agreement in general. In all respects, Georgia is ahead of both Ukraine and Moldova, therefore, there is no reason for Georgia not to be granted the candidate status, especially if this status is granted to Ukraine and Moldova. Against this background, when the radical opposition is campaigning that Georgia will probably not be able to get candidate status, it indicates a lot, first of all, their intentions," Irakli Kobakhidze said.
