We can not say in advance what decision the EU will make, because in some of the capitals of the EU member states positions regarding the decision have not yet been formed not only for Georgia, but also for Ukraine and Moldova - therefore, we should expect everything and be ready for any decision, stated chairwoman of Committee on European Integration, Maka Bochorishvili.

According to Bochorishvili, today Georgia needs the status of a candidate country for EU membership and the government will continue its efforts for the remaining month, doing everything possible to ensure that the EU member states make the decision that Georgia needs.

She also noted that the government has to deal with the opposition's campaign.

"Unfortunately, there are facts when our compatriots are lobbying and voicing positions that are not in the interests of Georgia today. It is not necessary to say directly 'do not grant the status of a candidate to Georgia' - one can say everything to make it so. Unfortunately, we see it, we understand it, there are attempts to do so, which is very sad and incomprehensible.

The only thing that Georgian politicians can do, whoever has voice anywhere, is to show as much as possible that Georgia fully deserves the status of an EU candidate country. Of course, until we know the final decision, we will do our best to explain to our European partners what expectations Georgia and the Georgian society have. You know very well that much more than 80% of the public supports Georgia's integration into the European Union. This should be known not only by the Georgian society, but also by the EU member states and the European community.

Georgia has done a lot to ensure the irreversibility of the EU integration process," Maka Bochorishvili said.
