Levan Ioseliani: The opposition, in addition to presenting its vision, must at the same time work on the proposals presented by Georgian Dream

The opposition, in addition to presenting its vision, must at the same time work on the proposals presented by Georgian Dream, stated Levan Ioseliani, Citizens MP and Vice Speaker of Parliament.

Ioseliani responded to the initiative of the opposition to call an extraordinary session for the adoption of necessary bills, including constitutional amendments, and noted that the extraordinary session makes sense if an agreement is reached in advance that the amendments will be approved.

"It is important to bring the constitutional reform to the end, what was adopted in the first reading, this issue is important for creating a democratic, pluralistic environment in this country in the future. However, apart from this issue, there are many other issues (in the demands of the European Union) in connection to which the opposition, in addition to presenting its vision, should at the same time work on proposals presented by Georgian Dream because we do not know what kind of legislation they are going to adopt, we don't know what their views are regarding the 12 points, we just heard the terms and that certain bills will be prepared. It requires going into the process, sitting down and seeing it all, for example, I'm interested in what they're going to offer in relation to the court. As for the extraordinary session, I think it makes sense if we reach an agreement that the changes should be adopted. Simply calling an extraordinary meeting with nothing to follow will do nothing. In addition, preliminary consultations with the President of Georgia are necessary, because she must schedule this session," Ioseliani said.
