Giga Bokeria: Amendments to the legislation will not result in a demolition of the current regime; ludicrousness must be abandoned, as if something will change by passing proper laws, it simply equals entering a swamp

“Amendments to the legislation will not result in a demolition of the current regime. Ludicrousness must be abandoned, as if something will change by passing proper laws. It simply equals entering a swamp,” said Giga Bokeria, chairman of European Georgia in a studio interview given to PalitraNews TV when talking about the prospects of passing a law on de-oligarchization.

Bokeria believes that the opposition should force the regime to hold fair elections and achieve that a high number of citizens are motivated to support the alternative power.

He also noted that international partners assess by results, which cannot be achieved if the authorities are permitted to mislead the people into a swirl of propaganda.

"We should not join the cascade of disappointments and should neither demonstrate again that we lack power. We have a regime that asserts that the West is our enemy, while on the other hand, it invites us to discuss the recommendation of the European Parliament. We should not engage in this even if partners tell us to do so. We should explain to the latter that no engagement will happen from our side until we have the regime that harms the West. The opposition will be ready for a dialogue if the situation becomes normal. When one is threatened to be arrested and sentenced to death, but invited to a dialogue with an aim of deceiving the general public, how can these two happen at the same time? Be that McAllister or any other partner, the free world assesses results, which cannot be achieved if the authorities are permitted to mislead the people into a swirl of propaganda," noted Giga Bokeria.
