Irakli Kobakhidze: Actually, neither the electoral barrier, nor the issue of Saakashvili or Bidzina Ivanishvili's return to politics has anything to do with the 12 points

Actually, neither the electoral barrier, nor the issue of Saakashvili or Bidzina Ivanishvili's return to politics has anything to do with the 12 points, Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze thus responded to the joint statement of Citizens and Girchi, who believe that Saakashvili’s exit from politics and Ivanishvili's return to politics are the most important factor for depolarization.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the content of the letter is unclear.

"Actually, neither the electoral barrier, nor the issue of Saakashvili, nor Bidzina Ivanishvili's return to politics has anything to do with the 12 points contained in the European Commission report, therefore, the content of this letter is not clear to us. We have discussed all the topics related to the implementation of the 12 points and we will continue to act according to this agenda," said Kobakhidze.

The Georgian Dream leader also responded to the joint statement of 48 opposition MPs calling the Georgian Dream Government to stop the "slanderous and disinformation campaign" against the USA and the European Union. He noted that the Government has simple questions regarding certain topics.

According to him, asking questions should not be considered an attack.

"The public remembers that the only one who attacked the American ambassador and the EU ambassador was the National Movement. Do you remember the famous remarks made by Nikanor Melia and Nika Gvaramia. It was a real attack when they directly insulted the diplomats working in Georgia. In our case, it is simple, questions are asked about certain topics and these are the questions of public interest. Asking questions should not be considered an attack and they know it very well. This campaign of theirs is doomed to complete failure," Kobakhidze said.

When asked by journalists how it is possible to implement the recommendations of the European Commission without the involvement of the opposition, Kobakhidze noted that the political parties that are not involved in the process are political parties with a radical agenda.

In the same context, Kobakhidze said that the National Movement, Lelo and Strategy Builder do not want Georgia to receive candidate status and therefore they are sabotaging the process.
