Nino Lomjaria: The campaign that the Public Defender has no rating only increases the Public Defender’s rating

It is incomprehensible and inexplicable to me why there is such concentration on the Public Defender, why they are trying to discredit her with attacks?! In their place, I would not have carried out such an attack, Public Defender Nino Lomjaria told journalists while evaluating the statements made by members of the ruling team.

As Nino Lomjaria explains, the Public Defender is an independent institution and "no politician can dictate when and what the Public Defender should say".

"High officials of the ruling party are conducting an active campaign against the Public Defender. It is incomprehensible and inexplicable to me why there is such concentration on the Public Defender, why they are trying to discredit the Public Defender with attacks! If they think that the Public Defender has no rating, I would tell them that this campaign only increases the rating of the Public Defender. If I were in their place, I would not launch such an attack, I think it only strengthens the Public Defender, increases the Public Defender’s rating. The Public Defender is an independent institution and no politician can evaluate and dictate when and what the Public Defender should say," Lomjaria noted.

In addition, she answered the journalist's question about how she would evaluate the statement of Irakli Kobakhidze, according to which, Nino Lomjaria is going to get involved in politics.

"As for my plans, I have a very busy work schedule for the next 4 months. I will fulfill my duty. As for what I will do after the expiration of my term, I will make an announcement about it myself. I don't know why they are nervous about it", said Lomjaria.

“She does not have a rating, but she is trying to be a politician - her term expires on December 7 and she will finally acquire the status that she informally has even today,” Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze said earlier today, while talking about the Public Defender, Nino Lomjaria.
