According to the opposition, after the court upheld the lawsuit of Georgian Dream, Senaki City Council was left without a chairman. Together with it, all the decisions made by the Senaki City Council on February 9 were annulled. With this decision, the judge fully upheld the lawsuit of Georgian Dream, by which the ruling party demanded the annulment of the decrees on the election of the chairman of the City Council, the recognition of the authority of the member of Giorgi Gakharia's party, and the election of commissions.

"On February 9-23, the City Council of Senaki municipality made an unprecedented, illegal decision. In the absence of a quorum, 7 decisions were made in violation of the law, as well as in violation of procedures, among them Irakli Kacharava was illegally elected as the chairman of the Council. All seven decisions were annulled by the court. Of course, I expected that, based on well-founded facts. The processes will return to the situation existing before February 9. With the annulment of the decisions, the issue of election of temporary mandate and temporary vote counting commissions was also annulled. The issue of terminating the authority of one of the members and electing the chairman of the Council. Accordingly, these issues will have to be discussed again by the City Council," said Natia Bokuchava, the plaintiff's lawyer.

According to Edisher Baghaturia, a member of Giorgi Gakharia's For Georgia party, the Georgian Dream government is trying to maintain power by all means. Baghaturia calls the decision made by the court illegal. He believes that due to the fact that the session has not been held for 6 months, extraordinary mid-term elections should be held in the entire municipality.

The United National Movement disagrees too with the decision. According to Boris Soselia, a member of the party, both the City Council and mayor elections in Senaki should be held in the spring.

We remind you that Georgian Dream is represented by 16 members, similar to the opposition parties. A few weeks ago, member of National Movement Vakhtang Tsurtsumia refused the mandate, because of which the elections should be held in Teklati-Chaladidi majority district.
