Vano Chkhartishvili starts legal proceedings for damages caused to his business reputation

Businessman Vano Chkhartishvili has released a statement.

Chkhartishvili is reacting to the sanctions list published by the National Anti-Corruption Agency of Ukraine, in which he is included along with former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili and 10 other citizens of Georgia.

As Chkhartishvili notes in his statement, there is no evidence that would prove his connection with the Russian company Rosneft, Petrokasa, Gulf or Port of Poti.

In addition, according to Chkhartishvili, authoritative international auditing companies in London are already studying the extent of the damage caused to him and his related companies by the aforementioned accusations, after which it is planned to start legal proceedings in the international, including the UK court.

"Regarding the information released yesterday by the Georgian media about the list of Georgian businessmen expected to be sanctioned, which was posted on one of the Ukrainian websites, I would like to state that there is an attempt to take the slanderous campaign artificially launched by Elene Khoshtaria and the members of the National Movement a few weeks ago to the international arena.

The published list is another fake built on pure lies, which has Georgian authors - Droa leader Elene Khoshtaria, National Movement member Levan Khabeishvili, and the media mouthpieces of the radicals, who have repeatedly spread false information specifically against me, namely about my open and official partnership with Rosneft for the purpose of importing sanctioned Russian oil.

The reality is that there is no fact or evidence that would prove my connection with the Russian companies they named – Rosneft or Petrokasa, as well as Gulf or Port of Poti”, reads thee statement.

According to Chkhartishvili, the false allegations made against him may endanger his UK national partners.

“Opponents will therefore have to pay a fair price and may have to pay substantial compensation under the UK law. We will have a similar reaction to any attempts, no matter who it comes from, to damage my business reputation by circulating false information," reads the statement.
