Mamuka Mdinaradze: We will support the proposal of Levan Ioseliani from the opposition, according to which the voting during the election of the Ombudsman should be open

We will support the proposal of Levan Ioseliani from the parliamentary opposition, according to which voting should be open during the election of the Ombudsman, Mamuka Mdinaradze, executive secretary of the Georgian Dream, said after the majority meeting.

Speaking about the issues discussed at the session, Mamuka Mdinaradze noted that the planned interpellation hearing with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Education in the Parliament was postponed due to their visit to the USA, and the Minister of Health will be heard on Friday.

"One of the issues to be discussed was the election of committee chairmen. Committee chairmen will be chosen tomorrow. We are talking about the candidates presented by the faction Georgian Dream. Changes in the regulations were also discussed. You know that in accordance with the European recommendation, we are talking about the quality of parliamentary supervision. Parliamentary political groups, including the Procedural Committee, worked on this topic, a number of changes will be made.

We will also support the proposal of Levan Ioseliani from the parliamentary opposition, according to which voting should be open during the election of the Ombudsman. By the way, my personal position in this regard was that there should be an open vote in the election of other officials, I will raise this issue tomorrow, however, regarding what has already been presented by Levan Ioseliani's initiative, we agreed that we will support the openness of the vote.

The next issue was also the European recommendation, and the Parliament of Georgia is actively working in this regard, throughout the summer and after the beginning of the sessions. It is about bringing it into line with the practice of Strasbourg, and almost all comments from the NGO sector have been taken into account here, and many changes are included in the relevant legislation.

I will also tell you that an interpellation with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Education and the Minister of Health was planned for Friday. Only one can be heard by way of interpellation, it will be the Minister of Health, based on the fact that the others I have listed are on a visit to the USA in connection with the meetings and events planned at the United Nations, and these interpellations will be postponed, while the Parliament will hear the Minister of Health and this hearing will be on Friday", Mamuka Mdinaradze said.
