Shalva Khachapuridze: The Ukrainian court made a decision to transfer Saakashvili from Georgia to Ukraine, where he will be questioned as a victim

The Ukrainian court made a decision to transfer Saakashvili from Georgia to Ukraine, where he will be questioned as a victim, Shalva Khachapuridze, the lawyer of the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, told reporters.

According to the lawyer, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine will send the said decision to Georgia, after which it will be up to them to decide whether to hand over Saakashvili as a witness or not.

In addition, as Khachapuridze explained, the information according to which the Ukrainian court is considering the facts of inhuman treatment of Saakashvili in Georgia is not true.

"Incorrect information was spread several times, as if the Ukrainian court was considering the facts of inhuman treatment of Saakashvili in Georgia. It is correct information that the Ukrainian court is considering and has opened a case related to the events ongoing in Ukraine. Saakashvili is known as a victim in this case, his lawyer filed a petition regarding the questioning of Saakashvili as a witness, and the Ukrainian court made a decision to transfer Saakashvili from Georgia to Ukraine, where he should be questioned as a victim. The Court of Justice of Ukraine will forward this decision to Georgia and they will decide whether to hand over Saakashvili as a witness or not”, Shalva Khachapuridze noted.
