Levan Ioseliani on Gvaramia's case: Half of the officials can be arrested on similar charges - cars are used not only by MPs, but also by their wives, children, and nannies

Half of the officials in this country can be arrested on similar charges, because the cars are used not only by MPs, but also by their wives, children, nannies, etc., the leader of the Citizens, the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Levan Ioseliani, said regarding the court ruling in Nika Gvaramia's case.

According to him, the accusation against Nika Gvaramia is absurd and it is wrong to lock him in prison on this charge.

"I did not expect that the court would make a decision. I do not think that Nika Gvaramia should be in prison. He does not represent the type of threat that requires him to be locked up in prison. In addition, the charge that has been brought is completely absurd, based on the fact that if we take this charge, then half of the officials in this country can be arrested, because I am sure and you know very well that the cars, including in this building, are used not only by MPs, but also by their wives, children, nannies, etc.," said Levan Ioseliani.

Tbilisi Court of Appeals found Nika Gvaramia, the founder of Mtavari TV, guilty. Accordingly, the imprisonment imposed on him by the Tbilisi City Court for 3 years and 6 months remained in force. In addition, the Court of Appeals convicted Nika Gvaramia for abuse of office in the episode of embezzlement of 6 million 700 000 GEL. The 50,000 GEL fine was replaced by imprisonment, but in the end, he will have to stay in prison for the previously determined period of 3 years and 6 months.
