Deputy Speaker of Polish Sejm refused to visit Mikheil Saakashvili and Nika Gvaramia

Małgorzata Maria Gosiewska, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, was not allowed to meet either the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, or the director of Mtavari TV company Nika Gvaramia. According to her, she was explained that she is neither a member of the family of those in custody, nor a Georgian MP.

"I welcome you at this special place, where the former president of Georgia, my friend, Mikheil Saakashvili, is imprisoned. As you know, I was once again refused a meeting with Mikheil Saakashvili, as well as with Nika Gvaramia. The fact that the president of the country is in prison and the director of one of the biggest opposition television stations is in prison does not speak well of this country. I am very sorry that I received another refusal to meet the prisoners and I was not given the opportunity to see what conditions they are in and what their health is. It was explained to me that I am neither a member of the family, nor a Member of the Parliament of Georgia, which is absolutely incomprehensible to me, because I have visited Georgian political prisoners many times in previous years and I did not have any problems in this regard. I will say once again that the Polish state has repeatedly offered the Georgian side to transfer Mikheil Saakashvili to Poland for medical purposes," said Goshevska.
