The European continent can only be at peace once its Westernmost and Easternmost parts will be under one EU and NATO umbrella, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili tweeted after his meeting with the President of the National Assembly of Portugal, Augusto Santos Silva.

“Engaging meeting with Augusto Santos Silva, President of Portugal’s National Assembly. The European continent can only be at peace once its Westernmost and Easternmost parts will be under one EU and NATO umbrella. We hope for Portugal’s support in this endeavor”, he tweeted.

Shalva Papuashvili expressed his gratitude to Portugal for the support of the territorial integrity of Georgia and the policy of non-recognition of the occupied regions. The parties highlighted the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and noted that it is important to fully use the potential of Georgia-Portugal cooperation.
