Public Defender and members of the medical council visited Mikheil Saakashvili

Public Defender Nino Lomjaria visited former president Mikheil Saakashvili at Vivamed clinic.

Along with Nino Lomjaria, Mikheil Saakashvili was also visited by doctors who are members of the medical council set up by the office of the Ombudsman.

As Nino Lomjaria explains, the doctors say that the situation is difficult and serious, and with this dynamic, it will be critical in a few months.

"I had a few minutes of communication, I told him that the doctors of my council came and would examine him. We also received written consent from him to disclose his health condition. The doctors spent the rest of the time with him and I think they properly studied his condition, to the extent that was possible.

If I'm not mistaken, a trial has been scheduled for the next week, before that we have to prepare, and that's why it was necessary for doctors to come to see the situation with their own eyes and evaluate it, this was the reason for today's visit.

From the first day of his imprisonment, we have been involved in monitoring his health and if we can do anything to protect his rights and save his life, which my doctors are discussing today too, that the situation is really difficult and serious and will be critical in a few months with this dynamic, of course we will do our best in this direction," notes Lomjaria.
