Khatia Dekanoidze: There is no agreement on the election of the Public Defender - it seems impossible to reach an agreement on a joint candidate

There is no agreement on the election of the Public Defender - it seems impossible to reach an agreement on a joint candidate! - chairwoman of the National Movement faction, Khatia Dekanoidze, said after leaving the negotiation room.

As Dekanoidze explained, the opposition offered only two candidates to the ruling team - Ana Abashidze and Giorgi Burjanadze, while Georgian Dream excluded voting on these two candidates and offered the opposition to choose between five other candidates.

“Georgian Dream says that they do not have any candidates and offers us to choose between five candidates from the list of candidates.

We stated that we do not support any of these five candidates. Only the candidates nominated by us will have our support.

Burjanadze and Abashidze are different from the five presented by Georgian Dream according to their professional qualities, professionalism and standards. The commission, which was created with the signature of Shalva Papuashvili, gave them the highest marks. Georgian Dream has only political arguments. We say that the achievements and work of these two people are important for the protection of human rights," Khatia Dekanoidze said after the meeting.
