The competition for the selection of candidates for the head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau will be announced tomorrow. The decision about this was made today at the meeting of the competition commission for the selection of candidates for the headship of the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

According to the Government Administration, the meeting was held in the Government Administration under the leadership of Revaz Javelidze, the head of the Government Administration.

As Revaz Javelidze pointed out, the commission's statute was also approved today at the commission's session.

"The list of documents and procedures according to which the candidates will be selected are indicated in the commission's regulation. The regulations of the commission will be posted on the website of the Government Administration, and all those candidates who meet the relevant requirements will have the opportunity to submit their data and information by January 25. Georgian citizens who have not been convicted, have 5 years of work experience in the justice system, in the field of human rights protection, as well as in the law enforcement system, and enjoy a fairly high reputation, can participate in the competition," said Revaz Javelidze.

The competition to select a candidate for the head of the Anti-corruption Bureau was announced by Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili's order No. 289 of December 22, 2022, and a competition commission was created, and the composition of the commission was determined by order No. 304 of December 30, 2022.

The members of the competition commission are: Revaz Javelidze, head of Government Administration; Mikheil Sarjveladze, Chairman of the Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration Committee of the Parliament; Anri Okhanashvili, Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Parliament; Giorgi Mikoutadze, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court; First Deputy Prosecutor General Bakur Abuladze; Acting Public Defender Tamar Gvaramadze; Aleksandre Kevkhishvili, representative of Transparency International - Georgia.

Based on the changes made in the legislation of Georgia, a legal entity under public law - the Anti-Corruption Bureau was created, which will carry out its activities independently and will be accountable to the Parliament of Georgia and the Interagency Anti-Corruption Council.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau will be headed by the head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, who will be selected through competition by the competition commission composed of representatives of state agencies and civil society. As a result of the competition, no less than 2 and no more than 5 candidates will be selected. The head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau will be appointed by the Prime Minister of Georgia for a period of 6 years.
