Lelo summons Zurab Abashidze to Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee

Lelo has summoned Zurab Abashidze, Special Envoy of the Prime Minister for Relations with Russia, to the session of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Parliament, in order to provide the public with complete information about what new projects the Russian Government is asking him to implement.

As Salome Samadashvili stated at the briefing held in the Parliament, all the tasks of Russia, which concern the disruption of strategic projects for Georgia, are being meticulously fulfilled, and the Government also is meticulously fulfilling the task of Russia, which concerns the disruption of receiving the candidate status, therefore, the implementation of the task given regarding the expansion of the transport corridor is likely to begin in the near future.

According to Samadashvili, the expansion of the transport corridor and new projects in this direction are a serious security challenge, because in the future, all additional roads that will connect Georgia with Russia will become a way to easily bring in military forces from Russia.

Samadashvili notes that Zurab Abashidze should answer all questions related to this issue in the coming days, at the committee meeting.

"Yesterday, we saw and heard how the Russian Government gave a task to the personal representative of Bidzina Ivanishvili, how he was given tasks to discuss new projects for the expansion of the transport corridors of Russia and Georgia, and I can assure you that the Government of Georgia received instructions about the disruption of the Anaklia port, a strategically important project for the West and our country, in exactly the same way, but in a much stricter tone. We have a government that, at the behest of Russia, cancels projects of strategic importance for our country and the West, but implements projects of strategic importance for the Putin regime. Today, Russia is under sanctions, and in order to avoid sanctions, it is particularly important for them to expand transport opportunities with the participation of Georgia, and their ally in this is the current government of Georgia, as can be seen from this recording, where the superior is talking to the representative of his subordinate, I mean Vladimir Putin's regime and Bidzina Ivanishvili, because Abashidze is not the decision-maker, he is just a mediator between Russia and Ivanishvili", said Samadashvili.

The recording of a conversation between Abashidze and Karasin was spread via YouTube, Cyber Kmara channel. According to the record, Abashidze and Karasin are talking about the construction of a new highway. Abashidze explains to Karasin that a parallel highway is being built in the direction of Zemo Larsi.
