ALDE resolution calls on the Government of Georgia to stop flirting with Russia, to stop the anti-Western propaganda and political persecution

We call on the Government of Georgia and the Georgian Dream ruling party to come to terms with the sanctions imposed by the European Union and other countries on Russian aviation, be alert to potential attempts to evade sanctions, - reads the special resolution on Georgia's EU and NATO integration submitted by Strategy Builder and supported by the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).

In addition, the resolution calls on the ruling party to stop sabotaging the EU and NATO integration process by not fulfilling the 12 recommendations established by the European Commission and maintaining Bidzina Ivanishvili's oligarchic rule, to stop flirting with Russia by proactively deepening economic and political ties with it, to stop the anti-Western propaganda and disinformation campaign, to stop the political persecution and to release Lazare Grigoriadis, Nika Gvaramia and Mikheil Saakashvili.

The special resolution on the integration of Georgia into the European Union and NATO confirms:

Strong support for Georgia's accession to the European Union and NATO.

Strong support for Georgia to be granted EU candidate status after the implementation of the 12 recommendations established by the European Commission.

The resolution expressed regret over the decision of the Government of Georgia to restore direct flights with the Russian Federation.

The resolution expresses regret over Georgian officials' statements where they accuse the West and European institutions of wanting to drag Georgia into the war, thereby undermining the image of the European Union in the eyes of the public and spreading misinformation that only helps the Russian Government, as well as over the decision of the Government of Georgia to deepen cooperation with Russia.
