Parliamentary Secretary of the President: The political council of the ruling party has no right to interfere in the competences of the President and the National Bank

We stated that Lasha Khutsishvili was considered as a candidate, but the President simply made the decision she made. Here is one thing, when we talk about the statement of the political council, even if it is the political council of the ruling team, it has no right to interfere with the competences of the President and the National Bank. This is determined by the Constitution, this is how the Parliamentary Secretary of the President, Giorgi Mskhiladze, answered the question of the opposition MP, Roman Gotsiridze, whether Lasha Khutsishvili's candidacy as a member of the board of the National Bank was considered, which was followed by the reaction of the Georgian Dream political council.

Giorgi Mskhiladze made a statement about this in the Parliament, where the Finance and Budget Committee is considering the President's veto on the draft amendments to the law "On the National Bank". The Parliamentary Secretary of the President also answered the question posed by the representatives of the ruling party.

"Also, I will answer Bezhan Tsakadze's question, as to what kind of system do we live in. We live in a parliamentary republic, Mr. Bezhan, but what is determined by the Constitution must be fulfilled, where it is clearly stated that the President has the right to present the members of the board of the National Bank to the Parliament," said Giorgi Mskhiladze.

According to him, when the President of the National Bank resigned, it is a fact that no problem was created and the National Bank continues its activities and work. In addition, according to Mskhiladze, the President will present candidates for the position of member of the National Bank in the near future.

"As for the President's statement that she is not going to present the candidates until December, this is not true. The President will present the candidates to the Parliament in the near future. The President meant the term of the incumbent until December, which expires in December, and she meant the term that the incumbent will not have a problem until then. So, in the near future, we will present two new candidates for the position of a member of the Board of the National Bank, and it will be up to you whether you will support them or not," said Giorgi Mskhiladze.

As a reminder, the Finance and Budget Committee of the Parliament is considering the President's veto on the draft amendments to the Organic Law "On the National Bank".

According to the legislative amendment adopted by the majority initiative, which Salome Zurabishvili did not sign, a new executive position - the post of the first vice president - is being introduced in the board of the National Bank. The First Vice-President of the National Bank shall perform his duties in the absence of the President of the National Bank.
