All the ships and vehicles transporting Russian sanctioned oil products will be sanctioned regardless of the flag under which country they are registered, - said Vaso Urushadze, secretary of the anti-corruption department of the United National Movement.
According to him, the government of Georgia should take the right position - "it should be where the civilized world is, where the Georgian people want to be".
"Today, at a joint press conference, the Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan and Georgia talked about the great importance of the central transport corridor and the attraction of cargo from Central Asia through Georgia to Europe. They talked about the fact that the trade turnover between Georgia and Kazakhstan has increased seven times, although this process raises legitimate questions: is the increase in trade turnover related to the scheme of bypassing Russian sanctions, the so-called parallel imports? Because this process has changed after Russia, Putin’s terrorist regime allowed the so-called parallel import, which means the introduction of all those sanctioned products from third countries into the Russian market, which due to the sanctions from Western countries, the USA and Great Britain cannot enter the Russian market.
At the same time, a legitimate question arises regarding the process that is taking place in the Batumi port, specifically in the Batumi oil terminal, when the State Security Service of Georgia and at the same time representatives of Bidzina Ivanishvili's oligarchic clan are lobbying the Russian state company Rosneft for key positions, which is sanctioned and is a direct donor to Putin’s terrorist regime. The are lobbying their personnel policy in the Batumi oil terminal, so that later they have the opportunity to get the sanctioned Russian oil products through the circumvention scheme to third countries, including the EU countries.
These questions exist today, both in relation to the government of Georgia and the government of Kazakhstan, and the answer to this is the new, eleventh sanctions package adopted by the European Union, which directly describes specific measures and steps in relation to those third countries that will be involved in circumventing the sanctions.
All ships and vehicles carrying Russian sanctioned oil products will be sanctioned regardless of the flag of the country under which they are registered. Also infrastructure, be it port, terminal or any other kind of logistics infrastructure, that serve Russian sanctioned oil products and help Russia to circumvent the sanctions, will be sanctioned. This is a direct signal that should be received by the authorities of Kazakhstan and Georgia and they should take the right position - not to move against the flow, against the global conditions, where on one side is the civilized world, development, progress - the firm choice of the citizens of our country, and on the other side is Putin's terrorist regime, which is trying to evade Western sanctions and trade with third countries.
The position of the Western countries in relation to Georgia is clear, the sanctions will not be against the country, but will be directly against the members of the Ivanishvili oligarchic clan, high officials and their families, who are directly involved in this scheme, as today is the head of the State Security Service, Mr. Liluashvili. Other members of Ivanishvili's oligarchic government, who will be subject to sanctions if they do not stop supporting Putin's terrorist regime," said Vaso Urushadze, whose comment was published by the National Movement.
