Salome Samadashvili: Any attempt to prevent the President from paying visits is an anti-constitutional action - Georgian Dream has an order from Moscow that our country should not get the candidate status

Any attempt to prevent the President from paying visits is an anti-constitutional action - Georgian Dream has an order from Moscow that our country should not get the candidate status, Lelo MP Salome Samadashvili said.

As she noted, the only chance for the country to get the status will be a political decision, that in the conditions of unfulfilled obligations, the country should get the status due to geopolitical considerations, and the visit of any state representative is important for lobbying, which is prevented by Georgian Dream.

"Today, the only chance for Georgia to get candidate status is for the European Union to make a political decision and grant candidate status to our country under conditions of unfulfilled obligations. Therefore, the lobbying of the President and any representative of the state for this political decision is of decisive importance from the point of view of granting the status. Therefore, any attempt to prevent the President from carrying out the mentioned visits is an anti-constitutional action, because our Constitution clearly states that Georgia should become a member state of the European Union. As for the motivation of Georgian Dream, it has a task from its own rulers, from Moscow, that our country should not get the status. However, they may not be able to fulfill this task and the EU may decide to grant the status to the country due to geopolitical considerations. If this happens and Ivanishvili's Russian regime cannot prevent the granting of the status, Dream then has a second plan to take advantage of this and make the Georgian people feel like they did something to get the status. In this case, the activity of Salome Zurabishvili is also damaging for them, because if we get the status of a candidate despite the Dream being in power, the Dream will try to sell it as its own achievement, despite the fact that it does nothing but obstruct," said Samadashvili.
