The attempt to break up the National Movement in various forms, which was always orchestrated, is and will be from Ivanishvili's side - it was, is and will be unsuccessful. We are the main opposition force, we are the main alternative to Ivanishvili's regime, Tina Bokuchava, the chairwoman of the United National Movement faction, said while talking about the statement made by the third president of Georgia to the party members.
According to her, the UNM is getting stronger and it is the main alternative to the "Russian regime".
When asked whether the opposition politicians who left the National Movement, including Khatia Dekanoidze and Roman Gotsiridze, have been "reduced to zero", Bokuchava says that many people have left the party in the recent past, but many have also come.
"United National Movement in the near, or in somewhat distant past, was left by other politicians too, but a lot of people came, the party got stronger. You can see that we are still fighting for the greatest expansion, the creation of the greatest possible common front. Among them, this was the goal of creating a Victory Platform," Bokuchava said.
She also spoke at the meeting with Chris Socha, advisor of the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and noted that Socha's visit confirms once again that strategic relations with Georgia and Georgia's Euro-Atlantic course are important for the US.
"You know that it was a closed meeting, the details of which, of course, we cannot talk about, but I can tell you that this person is one of the main decision-makers in the US legislature, which determines the foreign policy constitutionally and therefore the US policy towards Georgia. Therefore, his visit is very important in itself. This once again confirms that strategic relations with Georgia and Georgia's Euro-Atlantic course are important for America.
Our American friends understand very well that the vast majority of Georgian citizens are doing everything to save this historic choice made by the people and to realize the historic opportunity that now exists for Georgia to become a part of the Euro-Atlantic family. Our American friends once again confirm their readiness to do everything to realize this goal of the Georgian people," said Tina Bokuchava.
