I am sure that Borrell's visit will have an appropriate impact on the processes - the process of reforms will continue until Georgia becomes a full member of the European Union, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, said after meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell.
As the minister noted, he informed Josep Borrell about the process of implementing 12 recommendations of the European Commission.
"We talked about all the issues that we have in a bilateral format between the European Union and Georgia. Once again I want to evaluate and say that this is the most important visit. I am sure that it will have an appropriate impact on the processes, because we were talking to Mr. Borrell in great detail about the activities that the Georgian government has done to implement the 12 recommendations and to fulfill our - everyone's main wish and Georgia to receive the candidate status. I think it will be a very busy day for him, but it is necessary for him to hear the main messages from all branches of the government, which serve the European future of our country," said Darchiashvili.
He also evaluated Joseph Borrell's statement that "the candidate status needs to be earned and there is still a lot of work to be done in this regard" and noted that the process of reforms would continue.
"Of course, this is a process. I want to tell you that nobody is perfect. Everyone has their homework, and I want to say generally that these 12 recommendations are part of an ambitious reform agenda for our country. We are not finishing the process of reforms during this one year. This process will continue until Georgia becomes a full member of the European Union. We will continue to reform our country, because this, first of all, serves the main goal - to live in a better country and for our people to live in a better environment", said Darchiashvili.
