Badri Japaridze: It was once again confirmed that the Constitutional Court too is a mere executor of the will of the Georgian Dream

It has been proved once again that the Constitutional Court too is a mere executor of the will of Georgian Dream, one of the leaders of Lelo, Badri Japaridze, said while commenting on the decision of the Constitutional Court, which confirmed the violation of the Constitution by the President.

According to him, the Constitutional Court voiced what Georgian Dream ordered.

"Georgian Dream, which fulfills Russian tasks, continues to pursue the policy based on the instructions of Putin's Russia. It is clear that the start of the impeachment process against the President was dictated by Russia, and therefore, the task of Georgian Dream was and is to deal a big blow to the only institution that has preserved and maintains its independence. Of course, the court voiced what was ordered by Georgian Dream, namely Kobakhidze, as the chairman of Georgian Dream. In this case, it was proved once again that the Constitutional Court too is a mere executor of the will of the Georgian Dream. In the end, of course, this attempt of Georgian Dream based on the instructions received from Russia serves to prevent Salome Zurabishvili from carrying out the most important visits that served to get the status of a candidate for EU membership for Georgia, to prevent her meetings with European leaders and to prevent Georgia to receive the status. This is what this whole adventure serves, which was started by Georgian Dream and which was voiced today, unfortunately, by the Constitutional Court subordinate to Georgian Dream," said Badri Japaridze.

For information, the Constitutional Court published a conclusion on the impeachment submission of the President. In particular, the court determined that there was a violation of the country's Constitution on the party of President Salome Zurabishvili by making unauthorized visits to Europe. In addition, as the Chairman of the court noted, three judges - Irina Imerlishvili, Giorgi Kverenchkhiladze and Teimuraz Tughushi - expressed a different opinion on the conclusion.

We would like to remind you that the basis for the initiation of the impeachment process by the ruling team against the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, became the foreign visits made by the President, for which the government did not give consent to Salome Zurabishvili. The issue of impeaching the President was decided on September 1 at the meeting of the political council of the Georgian Dream party. The Constitutional Court had a one-month deadline to prepare its opinion. To remove the President, 100 deputies' votes are needed, which the Georgian Dream majority does not have.
