Paata Manjgaladze: Georgian Dream and the Constitutional Court said that the President is a pitcher that echoes everything that the government says - then why do we need a president at all?!

Georgian Dream and the Constitutional Court said that the President is a pitcher that echoes everything that the government says. Then why do we need a president at all?! - this is how Strategy Builder MP Paata Manjgaladze echoes the decision made by the Constitutional Court.

At the same time, Manjgaladze responded to the President's call to "stand outside the opposition" during the impeachment process. As Manjgaladze notes, their position was that they would not take part in the voting to insure risks.

"The National Movement and Strategy Builder have already said that it would be good if the opposition did not participate in the voting at all, because there are probably deputies on whom the government has mechanisms to influence. Therefore, to insure risks, we said that it would be good for the opposition not to participate in the voting. We will not take part in the voting, this is clear, as for participating in the debate, I have a position on this, but I prefer and it would be more collegial to consult with colleagues.

It is a little strange that Paata Manjgaladze, who was one of the heads of the election headquarters of Grigol Vashadze's campaign, is defending Zurabishvili from Kobakhidze, who calls her a "lame duck", but I am not defending Salome Zurabishvili, I am defending the institution of the president. Georgian Dream and the Constitutional Court said that the President is a pitcher that echoes everything that the government says. Then why do we need a president at all?! This is how Georgian Dream understands the Constitution. Of course, the President should not resign because of this, but that does not mean that I praise Salome Zurabishvili's 5-year work," Manjgaladze said.
