Davit Narmania: Abkhazia receives electricity from Russia, and they themselves are responsible for paying the fee – normally, we should not help them

Abkhazia receives electricity from Russia, and they themselves are responsible for paying the fee - normally we should not help them, - this is how the Chairman of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC), Davit Narmania, answered the journalist's question, according to which Russia asks occupied Abkhazia to pay the electricity fee, and whether the central government of Georgia will pay it if Abkhazia does not pay it itself.

According to Narmania, occupied Abkhazia is supplied with a certain amount of electricity generated by EnguriHES.

"Abkhazia receives energy from Russia, and they themselves are responsible for paying for it. The only obligation that comes from the 1990s is the 40-60 ratio of the electricity generated by EnguriHES, which is being implemented. The Georgian side does not have any other obligations in this regard," said Davit Narmania.

He also answered a question of whether we will help occupied Abkhazia if it fails to pay the amount and remains without electricity.

"We have no obligation in this regard. I have no other additional information. Normally , no [we will not help]", said Davit Narmania.
