No reform will be carried out under this government, the government will probably use the reform of political party financing against its opponents - this is another attempt to deceive the public, Lelo MP Salome Samadashvili said while commenting on the legislative changes related to party financing.

According to Samadashvili, Georgian Dream will not carry out de-oligarchization.

"When the European Union tells us that de-oligarchization is a requirement, it means the end of the political regime in our country, where the oligarchs have informally captured all state institutions. De-oligarchization cannot be implemented under the current government, it is impossible, and no matter how many legislative changes are made, de-oligarchization means to replace Russian oligarch Ivanishvili's regime with the rule of a democratic European coalition, where the parties are represented accordingly. In the oligarchic autocratic regime that rules the country today, all the legislative changes that are presented can be misused only against political opponents. Where the interest concerns the Russian oligarchic regime and its ruling political power, in the form of Georgian Dre­am, obviously, the law will not actually apply to their activities, so this is another attempt to deceive the public, as if the oligarchic regime can implement any reforms. No reform will be implemented under this government, including election financing reform. The government will probably try to use this change against the opponents," said Samadashvili.

She also spoke about the fulfillment of 9 conditions and noted that she did not expect Georgian Dre­am to fulfill them. As for the status, Samadashvili notes that the positive decision is threatened by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"Out of the 12 demands, all important reforms have remained unfulfilled, and no one expects that 9 conditions will be fulfilled under this government. As for the review scheduled on the 14^th of December, I can directly say that today the decision on the status is under threat due to the only factor. It is threatened only by the position of Viktor Orban, a common ally of Vladimir Putin and Bidzina Ivanishvili, who threatens to block the approval of the EU enlargement package," said Samadashvili.

According to the changes planned to be made to the Law on Political Unions of Citizens, initiated by the Georgian Dre­am faction, political parties will no longer be able to receive financial and material donations from legal entities - legal entities will be prohibited from giving donations to parties.

With the same amendments, the upper limit of the total allowable amount of expenses incurred by the party during the year is reduced from 0.05% to 0.04% of the previous year's gross domestic product.

As Georgian Dre­am explains, in case of adoption of the said project, Georgia will take into account the recommendation on deoligarchization published by the Venice Commission on June 12, 2023, which specifies the prohibition of the possibility of financing political parties for legal entities.
