According to the Minister of Defense of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze, since 2019, when the Minister of Defense became the Prime Minister, the salaries of military personnel have increased by 45%.

"The salary was 900 GEL and it became 1500 GEL. From January, we will increase the salary of all military personnel by 10%, and the minimum salary will be 1700 GEL. We are not going to stop this process. This process will continue in parallel with the development of the country," said the Minister of Defense.

Juansher Burchuladze also spoke about the issues related to the defense budget and noted that Georgia already fulfills NATO's requirement regarding the funding and the defense budget will increase by 26% in 2024.

"Our budget will increase by 26% in 2024 compared to 2023. If our economy, conventionally, grows by 10%, and this is a very big result in recent years, in the last 3 years, our defense budget proportionally increases even more," said the Minister.
