The visit of the ruling party delegation to the People’s Republic of China, headed by Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze, has concluded.

Today, members of the delegation met with Zhao Yihuai, the head of the new Free Economic Zone located in the Lin-Gang District of Shanghai, and Chen Jing, Deputy Chairman of the Shanghai Council, toured the Free Economic Zone, and learned about the specifics of its operation.“Today, we concluded our visit to China. We had very fruitful meetings with the leadership of the foreign team of the ruling party, the Minister, the Deputy Minister, the Deputy Minister of Trade, the Deputy Chair of the National People’s Congress, and the leadership of the city of Shanghai. There is a great deal of potential. It is our wish and our goal to deepen cooperation with China at various levels and in various areas. The Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed last year, which creates a very good basis for deepening the partnership in absolutely all areas. Of course, political cooperation is important; we have special potential in terms of the economy, and we should make use of this potential as much as possible,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.High-level meetings were held in Beijing and Shanghai as part of the visit to the People’s Republic of China.

The Georgian Dream delegation met with Minister Liu Jianchao, the head of the International Department of the Chinese ruling party, Deputy Minister Sun Haiyan, Zhang Laiming, Vice President of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Xiao Jie, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National People's Congress of China, Deputy Trade and Commerce Minister Ling Ji, and Chen Jing, Deputy Chairman of the Shanghai Council.The delegation visited the Shanghai Development Exhibition Center where they familiarized themselves with the economic plan for the development of Shanghai.The delegation of the ruling party included First Deputy Chairman of Parliament Giorgi Volski, Deputy Chairman of Parliament Irakli Chikovani, Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Nikoloz Samkharadze, Davit Songhulashvili, chairman of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, Agrarian Affairs Committee Chairwoman Nino Tsilosani, and Viktor Sanikidze, the first deputy chairman of the Sports Committee.
