The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia continues to work for the main priority of the country - to strengthen the country's sovereignty and restore territorial integrity in a peaceful way - the candidate for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, said this during his speech at the session of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.
According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is making efforts to implement the policy of peaceful resolution of the Russian-Georgian conflict, both in terms of the de-occupation of Georgian territories by Russia, and in terms of reconciliation and engagement between societies divided by the occupation line.
In this context, Ilia Darchiashvili drew attention to the importance of achieving a tangible result in the Geneva international negotiations.
"We will continue to work closely with the co-chairing organizations and the US as a participant in the negotiations, as well as with the EU member states to find ways to make progress in the negotiations and to provide effective international support," said the ministerial candidate.
He also emphasized that the resolution "Cooperation with Georgia" initiated by 51 countries in the UN Human Rights Council and the resolution initiated by 61 countries and supported by 100 states at the UN General Assembly - "From Abkhazia, Georgia and the Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia, Georgia, on the status of internally displaced persons and refugees".
Ilia Darchiashvili said that the further consolidation of the policy of non-recognition in the international arena will definitely continue, promoting reconciliation and restoring trust between the population divided by war and occupation lines, and ensuring the effective involvement of the international community in the process.
