The so-called president of occupied Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, submitted the draft law "On Foreign Agents", to the so-called parliament.

The corresponding text is posted on the website of the so-called president.

The full name of the bill is "On non-profit organizations and individuals acting as foreign agents".

"The adoption of the draft law will contribute to the protection of the interests and security of the republic of Abkhazia, its sovereignty, the rights and freedoms of citizens, as well as the provision of an immediate response to foreign interference in the political activities of the Abkhazian state and society," reads the explanatory part of the draft law.

According to the bill, both non-profit organizations and natural persons can be recognized as foreign agents.

"Citizens of the republic of Abkhazia, foreign nationals and stateless persons may be recognized as natural persons acting as foreign agents if they receive funds and (or) other property from foreign sources," reads the text.

At the same time, receiving funds from states that have recognized the independence of occupied Abkhazia (Russia, Venezuela, Syria, Nicaragua, Nauru), or from citizens or legal entities registered in these states will not be considered as a reason to recognize a non-profit organization or individual as a "foreign agent".
