In the European Parliament, MEPs who are already well or poorly known to us are collecting signatures to ask Zurabishvili to pardon Saakashvili, they want to draw parallels with Navalny - this is another attempt to put pressure on Zurabishvili, - the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, said during his speech at the plenary session of the Parliament.
According to him, Salome Zurabishvili found herself in an awkward position when it was pointed out directly at one of the panels of the Munich conference that she should pardon Saakashvili. According to Samkharadze, this is part of a new, very big campaign.
"The President, who once again went to the conference without asking for permission from the government, unfortunately, found herself in an awkward position when at one of the panels it was directly indicated that she should pardon Saakashvili. I want to tell the public that this is part of a new, very big campaign that is going on both inside and outside the country. In the European Parliament, the MEPs who are already well-known or not-so-familiar to us are collecting signatures to ask Zurabishvili to pardon Saakashvili, and they connect this fact with the unfortunate death of Navalny and want to draw parallels. The old lobbying lines, which the public is well aware of, have been activated again and there is another attempt to force or pressure Zurabishvili to pardon the president. I want the public to know that this is one big campaign," said Samkharadze.
