According to the agency, Minister Filippo Grandi congratulated the successful holding of the "Second Global Forum of Refugees" at the end of 2023 and welcomed the activities of the Office of the High Commissioner in Georgia. Ilia Darchiashvili spoke about the difficult humanitarian situation in the regions of Georgia occupied by Russia and emphasized the issue of the rights of internally displaced persons and refugees.

"The Minister noted the importance of the activities of the Tbilisi office of the High Commissioner in relation to the needs of the citizens living in the occupied regions. The conversation touched on the facts of human rights violations in the occupied regions. Ilia Darchiashvili emphasized the need to allow international mechanisms in the occupied regions and also the importance of keeping the issue at a high level on the agenda of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. The parties talked about the policies and programs of the Government of Georgia regarding internally displaced persons and refugees. Ilia Darchiashvili is visiting Geneva on February 26-27. Within the framework of the visit, the minister participated in the high-level segment of the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council and addressed the audience," the information said.
