Salome Samadashvili: I have no problem with them checking our documents, although corruption means abuse of power and the opposition has no power - similar methods are often used to harass opponents in autocratic countries

Of course, I have no problem with them checking our documents, although corruption itself means abuse of power and the opposition has no power, so I think it is absurd to talk about the corruption of the opposition, "Lelos" MP Salome Samadashvili said in an interview with PalitraNewss.

With this, the deputy responded to the initiative of the anti-corruption service, according to which they should start checking the declarations of the opposition deputies.

As Salome Samadashvili mentioned in the program, in Russia and other autocratic countries, similar methods are often used to harass opponents.

"It turned out that they are also checking my declarations. I found out at a good time, I was on a business trip and I had to quickly prepare the necessary documents. Of course, I have no problem with checking our documents, but what does corruption itself mean? Corruption means abuse of power and the opposition has no power, so I think it is absurd to talk about the corruption of the opposition. We know that similar methods are often used to harass opponents in Russia and other autocratic countries. "Georgian Dream" does something new every day, which convinces us that they are very afraid of the upcoming elections," said Salome Samadashvili.

In addition, according to her, she shares the opinion that "foreign money has nothing to do with Georgian politics", although she notes that in such a case, "Georgian Dream" should also stop its activities, because their policy "runs on Russian money".

As the deputy of "Lelo" noted, "Georgian Dream" is afraid of those Western organizations that should observe the 2024 elections.

"First of all, I share the opinion that foreign money has nothing to do with Georgian politics, but in such a case, Georgian Dream should announce its liquidation, because their entire policy is based on Russian money. As for Western funds, they have a different narrative here. They tried to introduce the "law on agents" which the people did not give them the right to do, and now they are trying to do the same without the law. They are very afraid of those organizations that will monitor the election process. "Georgian Dream" is now launching an organized attack on Western organizations that will observe the elections. We received the status of EU candidate with the reservation that negotiations will start only after fair and free elections", said Salome Samadashvili.
