According to Nona Kurdovanidze, the chairperson of the "Young Lawyers Association of Georgia", the so-called "veting" system is a test of good faith and a mechanism to improve the justice system.
As she told the journalists, without fulfilling these recommendations, unfortunately, Georgia will not be able to move forward in the process of integration with Europe.
"This is a good faith check mechanism that can be found in the recommendations of the European Commission. The due diligence mechanism is an opportunity to make the justice system healthier. Unfortunately, without the implementation of these recommendations, Georgia will not be able to move forward in the process of integration with Europe. It is clearly written in the expansion report that Georgia should create an appropriate mechanism in the direction of checking good faith," said Kurdovanidze.
In addition, she spoke about the main challenges in the judicial system.
As Nona Kurdovanidze explains, this refers to the system of organizing the Supreme Council of Justice, the presence of influence in the court, etc.
"One of the recommendations of the European Commission is the reform of the court. The court needs a deep reform, including the model that has been implemented so far is not enough. We hope that even now the Parliament will take appropriate effective steps to improve the justice system, among which the integrity check is one of the leading issues that can be found in the recommendations of the European Commission", said Kurdovanidze.
